Remembering Stage Great Jerry Orbach
Stage and screen legend Jerry Orbach, who succumbed to cancer on December 28, 2004, was memorialized at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on March 24. The performer was remembered by widow Elaine Orbach, friends, cast mates and loved ones in a special tribute, which included video of Orbach singing "Try to Remember" from The Fantasticks. The audience was filled members of the Law & Order family, including creator and executive producer Dick Wolf, who donated $1 million to cancer research at Sloan Kettering hospital. Even though Orbach is widely known for his Law & Order role after 12 seasons on the show, he is dear to the hearts of theatergoers for originating several roles on Broadway.
