Rosie O'Donnell's Art Show Draws a Star-Packed Opening Night Crowd
She's given so much of her time, talent, celebrity, vision and just sheer energy to New York's theater community over the years that it should come as no surprise to readers here that a huge portion of that community came out for her on Tuesday, October 9, when Rosie O'Donnell premiered a series of her paintings in the lobby of off-Broadway's New World Stages at 340 West 50th Street. (The show, entitled Solace, remains on display through December 12.) From Rosie's former TV talk show musical director John McDaniel to comedienne pals Margaret Cho and Joan Rivers to True Colors tour mate Cyndi Lauper to her still standing-by-me friend from The View Joy Behar, it was a whirlwind of a scene.
