Stage Diva Sherie Rene Scott's Road to Rapture
Sherie Rene Scott has played an evil sea witch in The Little Mermaid, a delightfully deceptive swindler in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, a heartbroken wife in The Last Five Years and a spoiled princess in Aida, to name but a few of the Tony-nominated actress' many roles. Now the diva is ready to tell a new story—and it bears an uncanny resemblance to Scott's own life. Her new show Everyday Rapture explores one woman's journey from the cornfields of Kansas to the clover fields of New York City and from a humble Mennonite past to worship-worthy stage stardom. We caught up with Scott, her co-author Dick Scanlan, director Michael Mayer and Rapture's talented supporting cast while they were hard at work in rehearsals at Second Stage Theatre, where the piece begins performances on April 7.
