Broadway went to the dogs on July 11, when the 11th annual Broadway Barks Benefit hit Shubert Alley. The star-studded event, a dog and cat “adopt-a-thon” featuring pets from local NYC animal shelters, was hosted by co-founders Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters, and included celebrity presentations of adoptable pooches and felines from Broadway animal lovers like Gavin Creel, Will Swenson, Sutton Foster, Hope Davis, Marcia Gay Harden, Stephanie J. Block, Andy Karl, Elizabeth Ashley, Michael Cerveris, Jayne Atkinson and many more. Aficionados of the New York stage and pet lovers mixed and mingled all along the alley, making connections with adoption agencies, snatching up autographed memorabilia and raising much-needed funds for New York animal charities while catching a glimpse of some of their favorite stage stars. Even better than the celebrity sightings, however, were the wags and wiggles of dozens of pets who found homes. Click here for a peek at all the furry fun.
