She dances, sings, acts and, with her latest album, Tony Award winner and Broadway icon Chita Rivera swings. The incomparable Broadways star--she of the original West Side Story, Bye Bye Birdie and Kiss of the Spiderwoman, to name just a few--celebrated the release of her new album "And Now I Swing" October 13 with a veritable who's who of Broadway (and yes, Catherine Zeta Jones is of Broadway now, inbound for the revival of A Little Night Music. Take that, Hollywood!). The spicy queen of stage and screen couldn't stay out till all hours, however--she's got a six show stretch promoting her release at Birdland, playing October 14 through October 17, to rest up for. A lover of a good party, Rivera made sure she spent time with guests like Alan Cumming, Stephanie J. Block, David Hyde Pierce and Tommy Tune before heading off to get her beauty rest. Fortunately for those who missed the party, the album itself, which includes classics from the Broadway and jazz songbooks including "I Won't Dance," "Nowadays" and "A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square," is now available in stores from Yellow Sound records.
