The Play's the Thing! Hamlet Opens in Central Park
Nothing was rotten in the state of Denmark (the Central Park version of it, at least) on June 17 when the Public Theater kicked off its 2008 Shakespeare in the Park season with Hamlet at the Delacorte Theater. On a beautiful night, a starry crowd gathered under the stars for the company's Summer Gala, followed by the opening night performance of the Bard's most famous work, starring Michael Stuhlbarg, Sam Waterston, Andre Braugher, Lauren Ambrose, Margaret Colin, Jay O. Sanders and a top-notch supporting cast. Broadway.com captured the scene and applauded the talented players. What a piece of work!
