Tony Winner Sutton Foster Says Goodbye to Millie
An audience full of well-wishers packed into the Marquis Theatre for the Sunday matinee of Thoroughly Modern Millie on February 15 to catch the final performance of leading lady Sutton Foster. The journey of Foster in the role of Millie Dillmount--from promoted understudy to Tony winning diva--is an emotional one, so the crowd was awash with tears for much of the show. Broadway.com captured Foster before, during and after the performance, as the Millie company said goodbye in the sky lobby of the Marriott Marquis Times Square. Also on hand was new Millie Susan Egan as well as former Designing Women co-stars Delta Burke (who also played her final performance as Mrs. Meers with Foster) and Dixie Carter (who steps into the role next week).
