The mood was electric at the Imperial Theatre on October 1 as Billy Elliot hit Broadway, kicking off previews and beginning the countdown to its long-awaited opening night on November 13. The performance showcased Kiril Kulish, one of three alternating title stars, in his Broadway debut; fellow headliners David Alvarez and Trent Kowalik will follow as previews proceed. The cast also features original West End showstopper Haydn Gwynne, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels alum Gregory Jbara, Tony Award winner Carole Shelley and recent Sunday in the Park with George player Santino Fontana, all of whom hit the stage aptly attired in tutus to join the company in the show’s first Broadway bow.
