Broadway is getting ready for new musical
Billy Elliot! The West End blockbuster, which is about a working-class English boy who gives up boxing for ballet, danced its newly announced stars to the Professional Performing Arts High School on 48th Street for a proper New York introduction on April 22. Accompanied by director Stephen Daldry, who also directed the 2000 film and original production of the show, and composer Elton John, talented triple-threats David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik and Kiril Kulish officially said "Hello, New York!" Following a brief performance by Sir Elton himself, all three of the Broadway newbies showed off the moves and skills that landed them the lead in the musical (the boys will be sharing the part due to the demanding nature of the role).
