Already the longest-running revival in Broadway history,
Chicago recently marked another milestone moment: On March 24, as the cast played its 5,125 performance, the production strutted its way past
Rent to become Broadway’s seventh longest-running show
ever. During intermission, director Walter Bobbie, producer Fran Weissler and
Bebe Neuwirth, the revival’s original Velma Kelly, joined the company backstage at the Ambassador Theatre for some celebratory cake-cutting, champagne-toasting and informal speech-making. Then it was time to kick off Act Two, and take aim at Broadway’s sixth longest-running show. Watch out,
Beauty and the Beast!
