Colin Quinn’s Long Story Short Gets a Second Broadway Extension

Colin Quinn will keep making ‘em laugh on Broadway, where his one-man show Long Story Short has extended its run at the Helen Hayes Theatre for a second time. The show, directed by Quinn’s pal and fellow comedian Jerry Seinfeld, opened on November 9 and was previously slated to close February 5. The production will now run through March 5.

The announcement of Quinn's latest extension leaves in question a new opening date for Rock of Ages, which had announced that it would transfer from its current home, the Brooks Atkinson Theatre (where it will close on January 9), to the Helen Hayes sometime in March.

Comically channeling the demise of great world empires, Long Story Short takes audiences through Quinn's version of the history of the world in 75 minutes. From his personification of Caesar as the original Italian mobster to his complaints about Ancient Greece and Antigone giving way to Costco and Snooki, Quinn uses satire to take on the attitudes, appetites and bad habits that toppled the world's most powerful nations.

Long Story Short began life off-Broadway at the Bleeker Street Theatre before transferring to the Great White Way.
