S. Epatha Merkerson Returns to Broadway in Come Back, Little Sheba
The world may love her as the tough talking NYC cop Lt. Anita Van Buren on television's long-running Law & Order, but on Thursday, January 24, S. Epatha Merkerson had the audience at Broadway's Biltmore Theatre in the palm of her hand as the fragile mid-western housewife Lola in the revival of William Inge's 1950 classic Come Back, Little Sheba. In a production produced by Manhattan Theatre Club, the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actress co-stars with Broadway vet Kevin Anderson as her alcoholic husband Doc and rising young star Zoe Kazan as the college student living in the childless couple's home as a border. The opening night crowd (and subsequent post-show party at Planet Hollywood/Times Square) was packed with Merkerson's showbiz pals, including a slew from Law & Order.
