The prolific and Pultizer Prize-winning playwright Horton Foote received another New York premiere on Thursday, September 27, with the opening of his play
Dividing the Estate at 59E59 Theatres, courtesy of the producers of the Primary Stages theater company. Starring Tony winner Elizabeth Ashley as an aging Texas matriarch wielding her last bits of power over her last bits of family, the cast also features television character actor Gerald McRaney (
Major Dad, Jericho), longtime Broadway fave Penny Fuller (
Applause) and the author's daughter Hallie Foote, among others. Following the opening night curtain calls, along with a host of well-known supporters (Hello, Tyne Daly! Hello, Jane Powell! Hello, Polly Holliday!), we ventured with the company to raise a toast to the 91-year old Mr. Foote at Sarabeth's on Central Park South. Take a look.
