SPEAKproductions introduces a musical feature film, Fairies, based on its award-winning short film that has screened in over 75 international film festivals. The project reunites writers Thomas Gustafson and Cory Krueckeberg with composer Jessica Fogle to create a fantastically moving, musical dream come true.
Struggling with his homophobic classmates and community, Timothy's fading spirit soars when his eccentric Drama teacher, Ms. Tebbit, embraces his differences and casts him as Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream. In tune with the forces of nature, Ms. Tebbit awakens Timothy's voice with the magical power of Shakespeare. He uses the potion he finds hidden in the text of Midsummer to drive his crush, the star rugby player, to fall in love with him. With this newly discovered ammunition, Timothy puckishly unleashes a wave of blossoming homosexuality upon his closed-minded town and within the ensuing chaos, he finally finds the equality and love he deserves. Having upset the lives of his family, friends and enemies, Timothy flees into the woods with his rugby player. The community spirals out of control and in a final musical dream, Ms. Tebbit appeals to Timothy to return the free will that he has stolen. Ripped from his safety net, he discovers the power and peace of flying free. Fairies sparkles with quirky, life-affirming comedy and unique characters and playfully encompasses everything from gay marriage to alcoholism, however, it is ultimately fueled by the undeniable forces of love, human nature and the power of our dreams.
