Election Night Drama: Chris Noth and John Gallagher Jr. Open Farragut North
If you thought the election dust had settled and the landscape was (relatively) clear, think again—new political play Farragut North (named for a subway stop in Washington, D.C.) opened at Atlantic Theater Company on November 12, and playwright Beau Willimon (who worked on politico Howard Dean’s 2004 presidential campaign) is pulling no punches. Starring Chris Noth, Tony Award winner John Gallagher Jr., Olivia Thirlby, Kate Blumberg, Isiah Whitlock Jr. and Otto Sanchez, the show follows a young, wunderkind press secretary as he falls deep into the murky waters of a complicated (and possibly rigged) presidential campaign (playwright Willimon claims all characters are fictional, but you’ll have to see the show and decide for yourself). The usual Atlantic operatives came out to show their support of the new work, electing to join the cast and creative team in a post-show victory celebration at New York’s swanky Cutting Room, conveniently owned by leading man Noth.
