On July 31, the new comedy
Flamingo Court made its Off-Broadway debut at New World Stages. Starring former
M*A*S*H star Jamie Farr and Tony Award nominee Anita Gillette, the three-act comedy (or "A Comedy in Three Condos," as it's billed) features its two star legends playing multiple characters in three short plays set in the same assisted-living complex. (Two go for laughs; the other involves incoming Alzheimer's.) After curtain call, it was upstairs for an after party at Bann restaurant. Farr welcomed Loretta Swit, his old friend and former co-star in
M*A*S*H. There were kudos and accolades aplenty for 87-year-old playwright Luigi Creatore. Inspired while living in his own
Flamingo Court-style complex, Creatore started writing the show for his fellow residents to perform in and enjoy. The rest, as they say, is history. Check it out!
