Great energy & talent, Audra - Amazing!
"Like? - What I said in my title. Net: great show. Improvements: First half a bit longer than needed. Could use more on adult Louise/Rose in 2nd half. "

Audra McDonald is a Triumph!
"Gypsy is difficult material to like given the storyline. But this cast, led by Audra McDonald, bring so much talent, humanity, and energy to the show that it’s impossible •not• to love it. "

Great performance
"It was a great performance. I saw Gypsy on TV. Nothing beats seeing it on the broadway stage with Audrey. It was a moving performance I laughed I cried I saw real life in the play. Broadway makes you forget about your troubles for a while. I am so glad I saw the play . The audience was great. Took pictures with complete strangers. Love being a New Yorker"

The best musical I’ve seen in 2025
"Gypsy is a fantastic musical. The singing was incredible. Please try to see it before Audra McDonald has completed her run. You will not regret it. She is a phenomenal singer! "

A lesson in fully becoming your character
"We all know Audra McDonald is a LEGEND! But this performance… I was in awe, i was mesmerized the entire show. Her performance was exceptional, at no point did I feel like it was Audra on the stage playing a part, that was Mama Rose through and through. Her vocals so powerful and smooth like butter. The comedic timing, and emotional depth to the performance. Just outstanding. Joy Woods delivers nothing short of exceptional. We are watching the rise of the next Audra in Joy Woods. Her portrayal of Louise was deep and felt personal. Delivering CRYSTAL clear vocals and bringing the most perfect energy to Louise. I need to see this show 10 more times and that still won’t be enough. GO SEE IT NOW!"

My first time seeing a Broadway show (thank you, TikTok)
"This was my first time watching a show on Broadway. About a month ago, the TikTok algorithm showed me a person I had never seen before raving about Audra’s performance at the Tony Awards. (The only thing I know about the Tonys is that it provides the ‘T’ in ‘EGOT.’) I was vaguely familiar with who Audra is because a few years ago, another algorithm (Spotify’s) recommended one of her songs to me. I didn’t really know much else about her. I had never heard of “Gypsy” before, either. Musical theater has never appealed to me all that much. I don’t dislike it, but I had only ever seen movie versions of professional musicals and I found them underwhelming and hard to get through in one sitting. Anyway, I watched that TikTok video to the end and ‘liked’ it, so the algorithm fed me more. And more. Until finally I said to myself, “Fine. If this Tony performance is so iconic, I might as well go see it in person while I can.” You can probably guess how the rest of this review goes lol Audra blew me away. I couldn’t stop crying during and after “Rose’s Turn.” I don’t wanna watch a movie musical ever again. I read some reviews that said the show was underwhelming. I don’t know anything about live theater so I don’t know how valuable my opinion is. I loved the entire show. It was good enough for me. More than enough. Everything was fantastic; every single scene, every song. It went by too fast! I got to see Audra MacDonald live and I feel so incredibly fortunate because I will remember this for the rest of my life. And, weirdly enough, I have TikTok to thank for this. (I went to TikTok to double-check: the username is @nobodyspecialforreal, “Thought Knots.” So thank you to Thought Knots, too!)"

Absolutely Fabulous!!
"Gypsy is one of the best musicals of all time and this cast, orchestra and theatre are all top notch. Special standouts, besides the headliners, are the many children who are multi-talented and professional. A wonderful and dazzling day at the theatre. "

Fresh take on the Gypsy story
"Audra was amazing. Nit only was she vocally stellar, she brought emotion and humanity to the Mama Rose role. The rest of the cast were equally believable and did a superb job of bringing the show to life."

Phenomenal performance by Audra McDonald!
"The children were so talented! The set and staging were inventive! Excellent casting and choreography. And seeing the great Audra McDonald was the experience of a lifetime."

AMAZING!
"This was my favorite broadway musical of all time! Audra was just perfect for Rose. She was great in the lines and even better in the singing. In 'Rose's Turn' at the end of act II, it was just perfect. It sent goosebumps up your arms. She got a standing ovation, and it wasn't the finale. Joy Woods was also spectacular. She was good at being a great actor, and in the beginning, pretending that she wasn't good. Her voice was beautiful, and she was just perfect for Louise. Jordan Tyson was a great June. Her voice was perfect for her character. Danny Burstein was a perfect Herbie. His acting and singing fit him perfectly. Every part of the show was perfect. I loved it."

Close up foundation
"The theater is absolutely beautiful, the staff is more than welcoming. A perfect venue to see a Broadway show. The cast was amazing the story the costumes the music. Everything was absolutely wonderful. Looking forward to seeing the show again on Broadway Of America. "

It wasn't Audra, but it was sure something special!
"We were on the bus to New York for the last Sunday matinee of Audra McDonald's run when the URGENT email arrived: no Audra today. We decided to see the production anyway, figuring that everyone who understudies the star mist be top drawer. Boy, were we right! The kids were cute, the passage of time was clever, if a little frantic, but Tryphena Wade was remarkable as Mama Rose. She and Danny Burstein clicked wonderfully, in a sophisticated way that broke my heart by the end. The physical business between Louise and Rose were effective. The three strippers were wonderful: A trumpet! Batteries! En pointe!"

This was the performance of a lifetime!
"We love Audra McDonald and her performance exceeded our expectations. The rest of the cast was excellent, and we particularly were impressed with Danny Burstein and the young June (2nd grade). They were incredible. The sets and costumes were really well put together. Loved the use of the stage walkout. Don't miss this show!"

My 4th time seeing Gypsy
"I have seen this show 4 times. The first as a child with Jeannette MacDonald then the movie, then with Bernadette Peters (great performance), but this one was the most gripping, raw , unbelievable performance live I have ever seen on Broadway."

About Gypsy

Gypsy is the landmark Broadway musical about a domineering mother in the early 20th Century who will do anything to make her young daughters Vaudeville stars. Inspired by the early life of stripper Gypsy Rose Lee, this new production is directed by George C. Wolfe and choreographed by Camille A. Brown, and is the musical that introduced the hit songs “Everything’s Coming Up Roses,” “Let Me Entertain You,“ and “You Gotta Get a Gimmick.”
