Based on a method originated by pioneering author, actor, and storyteller Spalding Gray, Zach Helm invites individual members of each evening's audience to be interviewed by him on stage. The result is an improvised, intimate, and immensely compelling evening that expands our perception of theater and narrative.
There is no real plot to Interviewing the Audience; the show is more of a theatrical experiment than straight play. It begins with show creator Zach Helm asking an audience member to come sit with him on the stage’s fashionable, but comfortable couches. He first asks the audience member “What brought you to this theater tonight?” From there, Helm ask questions in an attempt to learn more about the person’s life.
