Mi Soledad (My Solitude) is a 90-minute fusion of flamenco dance, music and song created by world renowned flamenco dancer Joaquín Cortés. Combining the musical rhythms of jazz, classical and flamenco genres, Mi Soledad features a live 10-piece orchestra and a seven-member vocal ensemble.
An internationally celebrated dance superstar, Joaquín Cortés was born into a gypsy family in Cordoba, Spain, in 1969. At 12, he moved to Madrid and began studying dance. Three years later, he joined the Spanish National Ballet and traveled around the world. He has collaborated with artists in a variety of genres throughout his career, including Jennifer Lopez, Alicia Keys, Debbie Allen and filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar. His work has been seen in the U.S. on the Academy Awards and Grammy Awards, and he as performed worldwide at venues including the Kremlin, the White House, and Venice's La Fenice Opera House, Radio City Music Hall, Lincoln Center Theater and City Center.
