Playwrights Horizons' Act of Kindness Debuts Off-Broadway
Benevolence (and a little bit of scripted drama, of course) were in the air as playwright Adam Rapp’s Kindness made its world premiere at Playwrights Horizons’ Peter Jay Sharp Theater on October 13. Staged by the scribe and featuring Annette O’Toole, Christopher Denham, Ray Anthony Thomas and Katherine Waterston, Kindness is the story of an ailing mother who escapes a destructive marriage by fleeing to New York City with her son. The show follows Mom (O’Toole) and son (Denham) over the course of an unlikely evening in Manhattan as they encounter unusual companions Thomas and Waterston. After the quartet of talented players took their bows, the cast, crew and entire Playwrights Horizons entourage made their way to the West Bank Café for a very kind after party.
