Hal Holbrook first starred as Twain, the author of such books as Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, on Broadway in 1966, taking home the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play and setting a model for one-man theatrical performances. He returned to New York with the show for a short engagement in 1977, and has since toured all over the world with the show, playing over 2,000 performances of the well-loved piece. He now returns to Broadway over 40 years after Mark Twain Tonight!'s first performance, bringing Samuel Langhorne Clemens (a.k.a. Mark Twain) to life for today's Broadway audience, and offering the author's unique vision of the human race, which remains as comic and as dark as ever.
