Next to Normal Gets Locked Up in the Recording Studio

A month after wrapping up a limited engagement at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., the Next to Normal cast reconvened at Avatar Studios in Hell’s Kitchen on February 12, to record the musical for an upcoming release on the Sh-K-Boom label. Making music the old-school way, the team started working sometime in the afternoon and continued well through the night. Stepping up to the microphone were stars Alice Ripley, J. Robert Spencer, Aaron Tveit, Adam Chandler-Berat, Jennifer Damiano and Louis Hobson, while composer Tom Kitt and writer-lyricist Brian Yorkey kept watch from the control room.
