Story
Peter Nichols' turbulent comedy Passion Play chronicles the destruction of a middle-aged couple seduced by a lascivious young woman in search of friendship and sex. A provocative and contemporary look at the limits of marriage and the gamble of intimacy, Passion Play is one of the celebrated plays of the last 20 years.London's Royal Shakespeare Company originally produced Passion Play in 1981. The show opened at Broadway's Longacre Theatre on May 15, 1983 under the title Passion (not to be confused with the Sondheim musical of the same name). The most recent New York outing for the drama was in 2001 at off-Broadway's Minetta Lane Theatre.
