Enter the Dragons! It’s Soul of Shaolin’s Big Night on Broadway!
After wowing the world during the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the cast of Soul of Shaolin officially premiered their martial arts extravaganza at the Marquis Theatre on January 15. Featuring 33 Chinese nationalists who’ve mastered the art of Shaolin Kung Fu (think Jackie Chan, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, etc.), the show marks the first time a production from the Peoples Republic of China has appeared on Broadway. The story follows a child who, after getting separated from his mother, is raised in a temple for Shaolin monks and grows up to become a Kung Fu expert, while the audience is treated to a nonstop calvalcade of hand chops, snap-kicks and other Far Eastern derring-do.
