In Kathleen Clark's play, longtime widow Amanda Cross visits a small northern New Jersey town where she meets Gus Klingman, a cantankerous widower. Eventually Amanda peels away the rough layers of Gus' unhappy heart to reveal the silenced passions of a man and a lover. Southern Comforts is a beautiful exploration of the intimate workings of all relationships. It comes to New York after premiering at Coconut Grove Playhouse earlier this year.
