Happy Birthday, Spring Awakening! Stars Party on 1st Anniversary
On the brink of Spring Awakening's transfer from the Atlantic Theater Company a year ago this week, hopes were high that Broadway audiences would listen to Frank Wedekind speak through a rock 'n' roll beat. And indeed, that's what's been happening ever since, thanks to the extraordinary talents of Spring's creators, producers and actors and musicians who bring it to life every night at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. To celebrate their one year anniversary on Broadway, Jonathan Groff, Lea Michele, John Gallagher Jr. and the whole Spring Awakening gang took to Bond 45 in Times Square for a post-show bash after the Sunday night performance on December 9. Along with composer Duncan Sheik and director Michael Mayer, we happily joined the party as original cast members of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical of the Year mixed with a new bunch of Spring arrivals.
