Martin McDonagh's The Cripple of Inishman Lands at the Atlantic

The luck of the Irish hit Atlantic Theater Company on December 18, when the company had the good fortune to open Martin McDonagh’s acclaimed The Cripple of Inishmaan for its first off-Broadway revival. The new production of the dark comedy, which made its New York stage debut at the Public Theater in 1998, premiered in Ireland under the banner of the Druid Theatre Company, with the transfer reuinting Druid and Atlantic for the first time since the teams presented Tony Award winner The Beauty Queen of Leenane ten years ago. Featuring direction by Tony Award winner and Druid Artistic Director Garry Hynes (the first woman to win a Tony for direction), Inishmaan is the story of orphaned Billy “the Cripple,” a young man from a rural town who sets out to meet an American filmmaker with hopes of escaping to Hollywood.
