A lively stage adaptation of the Academy Award-winning 1994 Disney film, The Lion King is the story of a young lion prince living in the flourishing African Pride Lands.
When an unthinkable tragedy, orchestrated by Simba’s wicked uncle, Scar, takes his father’s life, Simba flees the Pride Lands, leaving his loss and the life he knew behind. Eventually companioned by two hilarious and unlikely friends, Simba starts anew. But when weight of responsibility and a desperate plea from the now ravaged Pride Lands come to find the adult prince, Simba must take on a formidable enemy, and fulfill his destiny to be king.
"This is my third time watching Lion King in Broadway. The overall performances, stage design, casts, props were fantastic. My kids and I loved it.
The only thing I’d mention is that there were some ( not sure if they come from other Lion King movies?) songs and music in the show which weren’t that amusing to us, as we were expecting the real life version of Lion King animation. The taste of those songs/music that seemed a bit different from the animation movie. But overall I loved every minute, every essence of the musical. Thank you for the great show! "

"The costumes and props were soooooo creative. A few parts were "scary" and a child near us did not want to come back after intermission. Know what your child can handle. 8 and up, no problem I would think."

"I’ve seen this twice in the UK on tour before going to broadway. The show itself is great but was ruined by audience members next to us and around us talking through it that the stewards did nothing about. Highly disrespectful. "

"Beautiful choreography and costumes. It was hard to understand the song lyrics and speaking by most of the cast. Heavy accents and overplaying of the African heritage made it practically impossible to understand most of the speaking parts"

"The show was great. Really enjoyed, actors did an amazing job performing. But the venue wasn’t. Seats very uncomfortable and so close together. Sitting for two hours were a torture which doesn’t do any justice for the show."

"Loved the African beats and choir, some beautiful moments…
Maybe a little more catered towards children with Jokes that are very Disney like. "

"Of course, the puppets, staging, and costuming were fantastic. But the sound was so loud my granddaughter and I both had headaches. I had to plug my ears. Therefore, the tender moments were still overbearing. Too much money for the experience. "

"I loved the singing,
The dance routine was the same movements over and over and the dancer could be tighter for the number of times performing the routine
The show got a bit boring midway so it didn’t capture my attention throughout
The costumes needed to be more vibrant with gold showcasing the richness of the continent
Too many of songs were in another language so it was difficult to really immerse yourself in the show
Needed more drums in the songs, an African drum has the ability to connect to the soul when done correctly

"Beautiful production, great music overall, but I was disappointed that parts of it were lip synced. We all pay lots of money to get to and stay in NYC, time off from work/life etc for a Broadway show, for the Broadway experience... A lip synced show is unexpected, and again, disappointing.
The silver lining for me personally is that I'll do my research next time, and be more circumspect about my next Broadway show. It's an expensive lesson, but a valuable one. "
