Theatergoers at the September 16 matinee of The Phantom of the Opera got a rare treat during the curtain call when title star John Cudia announced that they’d just seen the show’s 9,000th Broadway performance. Applause turned to squeals when Cudia introduced a very special guest: Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber! Also on hand at the Majestic Theatre to mark the occasion were the show’s legendary director, Harold Prince, and choreographer, Gillian Lynne. This starry trifecta joined the cast to cut an enormous “9000” cake—and Broadway.com was on hand to bring you all the festivities at Broadway’s longest running show.
