Opening at the Hilton, The Pirate Queen Docks on Broadway
Boasting a cast of 42 lead by The Boy from Oz's Stephanie J. Block in the title role, the epic new musical The Pirate Queen—telling the story of Ireland's folkloric heroine Grace O'Malley and her legendary crusade to save her country from Queen Elizabeth I's terrorizing control—opened at Broadway's Hilton Theatre on April 5. With a score by the composing team of Les Miserables and Miss Saigon, Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schoenberg, the production, as directed by the Tony-winning Frank Galati, also marks the legit debut of Riverdance choreographer Carol Leavy Joyce. A splashy opening night roster of guests welcomed the new Queen to Broadway. And, of course, so did we. Check it out.
