Backstage Exclusive: Getting Ready at The Ritz
Back in the 1970s, Studio 54 was the Boogie Wonderland of its day. From a glimpse of what's going down there this season—the Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of Terrence McNally's 1975 breakthrough comedy about that era The Ritz—one might think the joint is having an acid flashback. From the liberal Liza-like use of eyeliner on Rosie Perez (playing the wannabe cabaret star Googie Gomez) to the blown-out hairdos on the 20 half-naked, on-the-prowl guys in the show, we caught a few backstage snapshots this week of the cast (prior to their official opening on October 11) as they primped and prepped for another night at The Ritz.
