In Their Broadway Debuts, Julianne Moore & Bill Nighy Open The Vertical Hour
With Julianne Moore and Bill Nighy headlining, David Hare writing and Sam Mendes directing, perhaps it was no surprise that when The Vertical Hour bowed at the Music Box on Thursday, November 30, it drew the most glamorous opening night crowd we've seen thus far this season. Indeed, from David Bowie to Lauren Bacall to Kate Winslet to Diane Von Furstenberg, the jet set show biz folk seemed to arrive en masse to witness Hare's world premiere play about an Ivy League academic (Moore) and a British intellectual (Nighy) who duke it out over the value, meaning and politics of the current war in Iraq. After the curtain call, guests headed to the swanky confines of the restaurant at the Royalton Hotel for an opening night toast. Check it out.
