The Wedding Singer is almost ready for its big day. The new musical by Tim Herlihy, Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin is based on the movie of the same name, which famously starred Adam Sandler as a down-on-his-luck wannabe rocker in suburban New Jersey circa 1985 (played by Stephen Lynch in the musical) and Drew Barrymore as the warm-hearted waitress (Laura Benanti in the stage version), who is engaged to the wrong guy. The tuner, directed by John Rando and choreographed by Rob Ashford, is busy getting ready for their tryout at Seattle's Fifth Avenue Theatre (January 31-February 19), but first they had what lead producer Margo Lion called an "engagement party" on January 6 at the New 42nd Street Studios, when they met and performed for the press.
