The Roundabout Theatre Company has secured plenty of starpower for its Broadway stagings of Bye Bye Birdie and After Miss Julie this season, but the company is making sure it shares the love off-Broadway as well. On September 11, Roundabout paraded out the already famous faces of its upcoming The Understudy, which stars Tony Award winner Julie White, Showtime's Weeds star Justin Kirk and longtime TV heavyweight Mark-Paul Gosselaar (yes, of Saved by the Bell). The trio, who goofed around off-stage before hitting up rehearsal for the new comedy, were joined by playful playwright Theresa Rebeck and director Scott Ellis. The Understudy begins performances at the Laura Pels Theatre on October 9; opening night is set for November 5.
