When you're producing a show that takes place in the magical land of Oz, you can't really skimp on the visuals. Thankfully, the producers of the new musical Wicked (which starts performances October 7) have no such intentions. In fact, they've enlisted legendary scenic designer Eugene Lee to create the sets for the show at the Gershwin Theatre, one of Broadway's largest venues. Thankfully, Lee has a bit of experience working in the Gershwin--he won a Tony for his unforgettable Sweeney Todd set there in 1979 and also filled the stage nicely for 1994's Show Boat revival. Assistant Set Designer Eddie Pierce graciously showed Broadway.com around Lee's wonderland, which is sure to wow audiences in just a few short weeks.
