In an effort to contribute to the greening of New York City, the producers of Wicked took their annual Wicked Day celebration uptown to Harlem this year. Marking the 4th anniversary of the megahit musical, Wicked Day 2007 took place at the Friendship Garden on 150th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, a community garden the musical adopted and renovated through the New York Restoration Project and its founder Bette Midler. Indeed, the Divine Miss M was on hand to inaugurate the newly Wick-ified park on the afternoon of Sunday, October 28, kicking off such family-friendly festivities as face painting, a pumpkin carving contest and costume contest, as well as performances from current Wicked witches Annaleigh Ashford (Glinda) and Lisa Brescia (standby Elphaba).
