Olivia Newton-John Rolls in for Xanadu's Opening Night
Sing along everyone: "We are in Xanadu!" And who knew this 1980 flop film, complete with roller-skating lead characters, could find a happy home on the stage of Broadway's Helen Hayes Theatre? Cast and crew celebrated the new musical's opening night on July 10 with a very special guest in the house: original Xanadu star and pop icon Olivia Newton-John! After the cheers and bows, first-nighters headed north to Providence, a former recording studio-turned-hip restaurant and lounge on 57th Street. And ho, ho, ho, it was magic! Broadway.com made the scene.
