About BOOP! The Musical

Please welcome to the stage, LIVE for the first time ever…BETTY BOOP! That sassy-sweet champion of empowerment, that spit-curled icon of joy, that songstress of strength comes alive in BOOP!, the new Broadway-bound musical-comedy extravaganza that’s fun for the whole family.

Tony Award®-winning director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, La Cage aux Folles, Hairspray) brings Fleischer Studios’ Queen of the Screen to the theater with celebrated multiple-time Grammy®-winning composer David Foster (“I Have Nothing,” “After the Love Is Gone,” “The Prayer”), Tony-nominated lyricist Susan Birkenhead (Working, Jelly’s Last Jam), and Tony-winning bookwriter Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone, The Prom).

For almost a century, Betty Boop has won hearts and inspired fans around the world with her trademark looks, voice, and style. Now, in BOOP!, Betty’s dream of an ordinary day off from the super-celebrity in her black-and-white world leads to an extraordinary adventure of color, music, and love in New York City—one that reminds her and the world, “You are capable of amazing things.” Boop-oop-a-doop!

The Betty Boop show was cute!
"The singing, dancing, the set and props were awesome! The costumes were spectacular with vibrant colors! As much as I liked it, I would only see it once because I'm not a huge comic strip fan."

Amazing performances.
"The music and dancing were both awesome. The performers are so talented and I wish them so much success throughout their lives. They deserve it. It was nice to see that older people can continue their chosen careers and stay healthy and energetic and convincingly play their roles. Loved it."

A fun show staged with great energy.
"I had read great reviews of “Boop!” And they turned outta be true! The show is done with great energy and is very funny. The sets and costumes were amazing, especially changing from the black and white cartoon mode to brightly colored real world costumes and scenery. The lead actress is so energetic and talented."

Wonderful, fun show!
"A very entertaining show! Thought the staging and plot are extremely creative. Creation of the black & white world of the original cartoon, bringing the characters to the current colorful world of the present and sometimes merging the two worlds is done in a clever way. Song and dance numbers are engaging and lively. EVERY performer has a strong voice for the broadway stage. Unfortunately as often happens in these shows, even a strong voice occasionally gets drowned out by the musical accompaniment. All in all a great experience!"

Entertainment
"A colorful show with an extremely talented cast of actors who sing and dance at the highest level. It definitely has Jerry Mitchell's handprint. It might help if you are aware of the Betty Boop character from the 1930's, but is not necessary if you just want to enjoy a good musical. "
