Nightclub star Velma’s serving time for killing her husband and sister after finding the two in bed together. Driven chorus girl Roxie’s been tossed in the joint for bumping off the lover she’s been cheating on her husband with. Not one to rest on her laurels, Velma enlists the help of prison matron Mama Morton and slickster lawyer Billy Flynn, who turn Velma’s incarceration into a murder-of-the-week media frenzy, thus preparing the world for a splashy showbiz comeback. "I think I spent more money on my ticket than they did on costumes and production. Everything was good but might need to be pushed to off broadway or a revamp. Overpriced for sure."

Sparse
"Aside from there being absolutely no set design except for the orchestra dominating most of the stage, and no costume changes except for maybe some shoes it was okay. The performances were typical of what we would expect from a Broadway cast. Overall the show was disappointing in that some simple costume changes and set design would have made it more appealing."

Skip Chicago
"Highly disappointing. This is the poorest Broadway production that I’ve ever seen; zero creativity, no set, horrendous costumes, average singing and dancing.

Huge Disappointment.
"A huge disappointment. While the cast was undeniably talented, the show felt outdated and lacked the magic to captivate a modern audience. The production stuck to its old version without any refreshing updates, leaving it feeling stale and uninspired. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it."

Lazy staging
"The movie is amazing - the stage play, not so much. The orchestra sits on stage while the singers parade in front of them. There is no set, so no visual cues to help the audience follow the story. No real costume changes - everyone wears black the entire performance, then at the end for the climactic scene in the cabaret - they add hats. I was disappointed as were several other audience members seated nearby."

Left at intermission
"So disappointed! Saw Chicago 20 yrs ago and it was so incredible. So I took my 30 yr old daughter to see it. The quality was so below par for broadway. The orchestra took up the majority of the stage, Roxy can’t sing or dance very well. It all felt very amateur. We actually left at intermission."

Disappointment
"The actors were never in sync with choreography, there was no stage set or even costume changes, and some of the dialogue was inaudible. Truly disappointing."

Spoilt
"I was so looking forward to the show and my expectations were crushed, the stage was solely taken over by the musicians leaving little space for the artists. The show was turned into a comic sketch twist on the real script and left a zero rating for me, what a pity after travelling the whole way from the UK very disappointed 😞 "

Extremely Disappointing
"I have never been so disappointed in an extremely expensive production. This was my first time seeing Chicago (have never seen the movie or read the play) and the story was extremely hard to follow. There is no set or costume changes and very minimal dialog so it was not clear what was happening. We left at intermission. Save yourself the money. The performers themselves are very talented but this particular production was a letdown. "
