About Gypsy

Gypsy is the landmark Broadway musical about a domineering mother in the early 20th Century who will do anything to make her young daughters Vaudeville stars. Inspired by the early life of stripper Gypsy Rose Lee, this new production is directed by George C. Wolfe and choreographed by Camille A. Brown, and is the musical that introduced the hit songs “Everything’s Coming Up Roses,” “Let Me Entertain You,“ and “You Gotta Get a Gimmick.”

Audra is amazing
"The storyline is important, but the beginning was lacking due to the kiddie nature. However, the 2nd part was stronger, and Audra is absolutely the most amazing of any performer I have ever seen! "

Great show, passionate yet compassionate
"Some of the work (esp those by the actresses playing Baby June) can be histrionic, shrieking and trying much too hard. Small quibble, but the show reimagines the character of Rose in a more forgiving light. That last song is earned and delivered by Ms. McDonald. ❤️"

Production has shortcomings
"Without Act Two this would have been a 2 star review. Orchestra Row M great seats. Audio was too high pitched, too loud, and generally not fun during Act One. Love Audra as a singer and actor but that audio tanked it for me. Second short Act was fabulous in all respects. Great cast throughout. Lots of foul language and some suggestive acts. Would not take children under 16, from a midwesterner so take that for what its worth to you."
