Laugh Whore Tickets

Laugh Whore features a stageful of leading ladies: Liza Minnelli, Judy Garland, Katharine Hepburn, Joan Crawford, Elaine Stritch, Bette Davis, Cher, Barbra Streisand, Oprah Winfrey, Elizabeth Taylor, Tina Turner, Carol Channing, Joan Rivers... The fact that just one man brings all of these favorites to life must be what has the critics raving about the show, a "one-man variety hour" written by and starring the incomparable Mario Cantone. Directed by Tony Award winner Joe Mantello (Take Me Out, Wicked, Assassins), Laugh Whore has the acerbic song-and-joke man looking back on everything from his childhood in an animated Italian family to his long-running gig as the host of a children's television show. Along the way, Cantone croons some original tunes and offers his views on current events and the lives of the rich and famous. Cantone made his Broadway debut as Nathan Lane's replacement in Terrence McNally's ensemble play Love! Valour! [IMG:L]Compassion!. Since then he's proven to be a versatile performer in productions like Assassins, The Violet Hour, The Tempest and off-Broadway's The Crumple Zone. Still, he's probably best known to the masses for playing ruthless gay wedding stylist Anthony Marantino on HBO's Sex and the City. After its limited run at the Cort Theatre, Laugh Whore will be broadcast on Showtime in 2005. But you can see it now--on Broadway!
