Spanning three decades in the entertainment business, Merrily We Roll Along charts the turbulent relationship between composer Franklin Shepard and his two lifelong friends—writer Mary and lyricist & playwright Charley. An inventive cult-classic ahead of its time, Merrily We Roll Along features some of Stephen Sondheim’s most celebrated and personal songs. Maria Friedman first directed the musical at London’s Menier Chocolate Factory–a production that subsequently transferred to the Harold Pinter Theatre, where it garnered the most five-star reviews in West End history before going on to win the Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival.
"We enjoyed the show and the way the story unfolds in a reverse timeline. All the main actors were fabulous. It's one I will watch again when it hits the traveling Broadway shows."

"I had goosebumps the moment the drums started- the music was incredible! It was a great story, it's sad and 'feel good' at the same time, one of those stories that makes you appreciate life's moments and turns. We were so happy to see it shortly after the Tony announcement, so worth it! "

"One of the best casted shows I’ve seen in NYC for sometime. Story is average, but the dynamic cast, relationships, personalities and performances be each cast member made up for it.
This show would be a difficult sell with a different cast. Big shoes to fill if/when they move on… 10 out of 10 as is. "

"The emotional connection between the actors, and between the actors and the audience, was palpable raising the performance to a level I hadn’t experienced before. The only thing I knew about this musical was it was Sondheim’s “miss”, so I was delighted to find the music and lyrics were as wonderful as my familiar and favorites. The entire cast was so egaging, the orchestra stellar. Well done!"

I loved it!
Many proper laugh out loud moments, mixed with some absolutely tragic ones.
The stars really seemed to enjoy performing and you felt their joy."
