Following a sold-out, extended run at The Public Theater, Suffs arrives on Broadway — and not a moment too soon. From the singular mind of Shaina Taub, this “remarkable, epic new musical” (Variety), boldly explores the victories and failures of a struggle for equality that’s far from over.
It’s 1913 and the women’s movement is heating up in America, anchored by the suffragists — “Suffs,” as they call themselves — and their relentless pursuit of the right to vote. Reaching across and against generational, racial, and class divides, these brilliant, flawed women entertain and inspire us with the story of their hard-won victory in an ongoing fight. So much has changed since the passing of the Nineteenth Amendment over a century ago, and yet we’re reminded sometimes we need to look back, in order to march fearlessly into the future.
"Suffs may be my favorite show. I’m disappointed it is closing. My only hope is it reopens in other ways so others can learn and enjoy the amazing writing, music, and history behind this musical. It was being taped during the performance I attended so I’m eager to hear where I can see it soon!"

"I came to see this for the third time. I needed to see it again before it closes. It’s a great reminder of the powerful women who sacrificed so much to get women the right to vote. It shows that the path to justice and equality is hard but can be done."

"Thoroughly enjoyed the show with my wife and early 20s son! The cast brought a unique energy from the very first number, and we remained engaged throughout. Historically accurate given the time allocated which I for one really appreciated. Bravo to all associated with this production!"

"I was concerned I would fall asleep once I settled into the warm theater after a long day, but NO WAY! From the first number, I was hooked! The cast, the music, the storyline… AMAZING! I found myself wishing I came to this show the day after the 2024 election results. I was curious what the vibe was then? It must’ve been so healing and refreshing. “Progress is possible but not guaranteed. Keep Marching!”

"The show was so fabulous - I laughed, I cried, I thought more deeply about what it means to be part of a movement over the long haul. The singing and acting was fantastic, the history fascinating (and true!) and the deeper purpose - the fight for women's rights throughout history - was the beating heart throughout. I, my husband and my parents all loved it!"

"Suffs offers a complete and entertaining telling of the story of latter part of the fight for women’s suffrage in the United States. The characters are compelling, the songs powerful and entertaining, and there is both humor and poignancy to help to tell the story.
While I am sad that is it is closing on Broadway, I am happy that it will be going on tour so more people can learn the story behind these amazing women. "

"Enlightening, infuriating and inspiring. Marvel at the real women (and few men) behind this incredible history lesson and celebrate the incomparable talent who created this show. Lyrics, music, book, production, performance - all hit with a gut punch. The last number hit so hard I wanted to sit in the audience and cry for 10 minutes alone, but that might be weird. Must-see for budding feminists or anyone who’s ever met a woman and recognizes their beauty, strength and worth. Shaina Taub is a genius. You will not be disappointed."

"The cast was a joy.
Loved the all female cast decision.
It’s heartbreaking and inspiring. It reminds, as if we could forget, that the fight for our human rights is never done.
I sobbed during parts but I am 65, of the generation that fears we let our children down.
Forward, alway forward. "

"Absolutely wonderful show. I live near Canandaigua where Susan B Anthony was tried and found guilty of voting illegally. This area is so full of women’s history yet I found Suffs educational, thought provoking and fun. Cast was just excellent! Children who know anything about this but definitely for teens who will help us return to our rights as they are gradually taken away should see it!"
