Following a sold-out, extended run at The Public Theater, Suffs arrives on Broadway — and not a moment too soon. From the singular mind of Shaina Taub, this “remarkable, epic new musical” (Variety), boldly explores the victories and failures of a struggle for equality that’s far from over.
It’s 1913 and the women’s movement is heating up in America, anchored by the suffragists — “Suffs,” as they call themselves — and their relentless pursuit of the right to vote. Reaching across and against generational, racial, and class divides, these brilliant, flawed women entertain and inspire us with the story of their hard-won victory in an ongoing fight. So much has changed since the passing of the Nineteenth Amendment over a century ago, and yet we’re reminded sometimes we need to look back, in order to march fearlessly into the future.
"I feel it's about time that a show like this has come to life to tell the true history of women that sacrifice everything so that we would have the right to vote. This company should be very proud of everything they have accomplished during this run. It is unfortunate that it will be closing soon so please run. Don't walk to see this unforgettable show."

"Well staged and well performed. The voices were terrific.
The play raised and addressed hard issues about making change and the personal costs of the struggle for justice. Sad that the issues are still so relevant …."

"Oh wow this this show deliver the goosebumps, the awe, the inspiration and the anger. What passion... Makes you want to shout. A necessary lesson, all wrapped up in song and dance, for what our foremothers went through to take even minimal steps for equality. The show's main message - the fight is not over, makes it clear that fighting is not simple; that in every fight, choices are made. Nothing is perfect. The journey is hard. But equality is worth fighting for. GO SEE SUFFS! "

"This is a historically important story of the amazing women that had to fight for their right to vote. This work could not be more poignant at this time in today's politics. I would encourage you to take your tweens and teens. As a white male, I found it extremally powerful and captivating. Shaina Taub and the entire cast of women were absolutely amazing, and we can't wait to get back to see it again.

"The topic that Suffs covers is intrinsically inspiring and educational, and I am drawn to this type of show. The songs are not as catchy as shows like Wicked, Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, but they are still very well written and well produced. The cast was fantastic. It does not have complicated scenes and staging like some shows do, but it was still effective and pleasing. I am also impressed by how they addressed the subject of racial equality in this show because when the suffragists fought for women's right to vote and ultimately succeeded in 1910s-20s, unfortunately racial equality was still lagging far behind."
