Following a sold-out, extended run at The Public Theater, Suffs arrives on Broadway — and not a moment too soon. From the singular mind of Shaina Taub, this “remarkable, epic new musical” (Variety), boldly explores the victories and failures of a struggle for equality that’s far from over.
It’s 1913 and the women’s movement is heating up in America, anchored by the suffragists — “Suffs,” as they call themselves — and their relentless pursuit of the right to vote. Reaching across and against generational, racial, and class divides, these brilliant, flawed women entertain and inspire us with the story of their hard-won victory in an ongoing fight. So much has changed since the passing of the Nineteenth Amendment over a century ago, and yet we’re reminded sometimes we need to look back, in order to march fearlessly into the future.
"We did not know what to expect going into the show other that it would be about the women's suffrage movement. We loved the show! The music was catchy and memorable. The performances by all of the actors were first rate. The show was well paced, and the minimalist set did not distract from the performance. In fact, the set had just what it needed to enhance the performance. We also learned a lot about the suffrage movement along with the work that still needs to be done. We are motivated to "keep marching on.""

"This is a beautiful story about the power of female friendship, love, and women’s rights. It’s especially powerful as women’s bodily autonomy is still something the government thinks it should decide. The performers were top notch, the songs and music were beautiful, and the singing was amazing! I would go see it again. Definitely glad we made time for it on our trip. Beautiful theater as well, not a bad seat in the house."

"I have been attending theater performances all of my life. I’ve seen over 100 at least and this performances was one of the most emotional performances I’ve experienced. It truly brought tears to my eyes. Perhaps it’s due the the political happenings of the time where women’s rights are being clawed back by controlling, caucasian, out-of-touch, men and/or that I’m old enough to appreciate the fights that women have had to endure to continue to achieve their rightful place in society. I am so appreciative of the work, women, who came before me, have done to let me enjoy the rights that we have today. ALL women and young girls should see this play in all its glory. It is an Outstanding play and the music, acting and staging is Top Notch. Congrats on this achievement!! Keep the fight alive…"

"This show was excellent. Loved the story, music and cast. I was ready to go protest walking out and never give up such a hard fought for freedom. Inspiring story given our current political climate. This is a story more need to know so we don’t get complacent, this right is one that was hard fought and well earned by some incredibly tough women. Dare I say some “Great American B******”!!!"

"I feel it's about time that a show like this has come to life to tell the true history of women that sacrifice everything so that we would have the right to vote. "Oh wow this this show deliver the goosebumps, the awe, the inspiration and the anger. What passion... Makes you want to shout. A necessary lesson, all wrapped up in song and dance, for what our foremothers went through to take even minimal steps for equality. The show's main message - the fight is not over, makes it clear that fighting is not simple; that in every fight, choices are made. Nothing is perfect. The journey is hard. But equality is worth fighting for. GO SEE SUFFS! "
