The winner of the Tony Award® for Best Musical is The Outsiders. This classic coming-of-age story takes you to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1967, where Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend Johnny Cade, and their family of Greaser “outsiders” dream about who they want to become in a world that will never accept them. The Outsiders features a “tuneful and soul-bearing” (New York Stage Review) original score, “high-octane choreography” (New York Magazine), and a “sensational young cast” (The Wall Street Journal) that brings the show to life.
"I had recently read this excellent book about the travails of teenagers; both the "insiders - wealthy, privileged teens (socs)" and the "outsiders (greasers)" - teens all-too-often living on the edge with little money and/or adequate family guidance to assist their offspring with the needed tools to navigate the seas of adolescence. With song, dance, and pathos, The Outsiders provides the audience with rage, sorrow, hopefulness, and tears."

"The Outsiders is superbly performed, but has such a sad storyline and violence, that some theater goers may perfer to avoid it. Having said that, the final scene does provide a positive conclusion to all the suffering portrayed in the previous 2 hours of the show. "

"Brody Grant has a very strong voice!
I went twice and he was absent again ?
I understand they need vocal support.
So I will not go again (not cheap) !"

"The show did highlight class differences in this society and showed the cruelty of the rich which is most often censored in media coverage."

" Has some usual effects fire, rain, gravel stage. The singer who played Cherrie was the best. The dancing was good and creative. I do think there are more exciting shows out there that I would recommend before The Outsiders. This show was not for me. "

"Really liked the rumble scene, beautiful choreography.
Many characters were not consistent with the book, but the show was good. And some of the effects were really cool. "

"I wish I didn't know it won a Tony for Best Play.
Maybe I expected it to be amazing and in all fairness, the actors were extremely talented but I couldn't feel a connect or a flow with the show.
To me there was no stand out song or performance.
I was disappointed but the Broadway experience is always wonderful. "

"Songs all seemed the same and nothing that resonates after you leave the performance. I don't get how this won Tony's. We picked this as it was a day before Wednesday and other matinées were not available. Maybe the bar after you see Wicked and some other 'greats' is set too high. "
