About The Roommate

See Mia Farrow and Patti LuPone prove that being bad can be so much fun.

Sharon (Farrow) has never had a roommate before. But after her divorce, she needs a housemate to pay the bills. That's when Robyn (LuPone) arrives. The Roommate by Jen Silverman is about an unexpected, life-changing friendship that's both funny and deeply moving, between two very different middle-aged women as they navigate the complexities of identity, morality, and the dream of reinvention.

Master Class in preformance
"Absolutely loved every second of it. Mia Farrow is a delight to watch and the balance Patti Lupone brings to the play creates this warm, familiar feeling as you watch it and never want this to end. Seeing The Roommate in as a highlight of my theater binge trip from Honolulu "

Masters at Work
"To see veteran actors Patti Lupone and Mia Farrow work together in this hilariously funny and relevant play was truly captivating, entertaining, heartwarming. A shout-out to the lighting design team for their work and Dave Yazbek for the wonderful incidental music."

My Review of The Roommate
"Mia Farrow was outstanding! Patti LuPone was fabulous in her role. Together they made the 100 minutes move along. At times funny and heartfelt, you will not be disappointed. Ms. Farrow and Ms. LuPone, as well as the play itself should receive Tony nominations. A MUST-see play!!!"

Impeccable
"It was absolutely wonderful. simple conversations between two women were able to bring out a chuckle,or loud laughter. Most were one liners, sometimes only 2 or 3 words strung together, but the tone in which they were said conveyed many truths that were indeed funny,One had to be there listening to them talking back and forth, trying to gauge and understand the OTHER. Scenes flowed well, the direction was crisp.Miss Farrow was perfect in her portrayal of the character she played. It was a treat to follow her every move on the stage and the mannerisms she displayed to make that part come alive. For the entire duration one almost forgot the movie star as she became one with the role. All in all, this play should not be missed"

Phenomenal
"I purchased tix because how many opportunities does one get to see 2 legends on 1 stage. Ms. Farrow and Ms. Lupone did not disappoint. It was like watching 2 heavyweights go back and forth. Cliche aside, I seriously laughed and cried. Absolutely unbelievable performances. It made me want to see more of these women. So glad they were afforded this vehicle to shine. A poignant story about life, love, loss, growth, regrets, labels, coming to terms with our past and having the guts to create our present and our future. I have always liked Mia Farrow but my appreciation for her talent has now increased exponentially. Literally translated, my new girl crush. :)"

A masterclass in nuance!
"Watching two legends fill a stage with a highly nuanced performance was unforgettable. It made me thankful for this collaboration. Mia Farrow knocked it out of the park with her portrayal of Sharon and Patti LuPone used her New York essence to create Robyn. A joy!"

Double amazement!
"I did no research on the content of this show before going. I just knew that Patti Lupone and Mia Farrow were portraying roommates and that was enough for me! I have been a fan of Patti since Evita days and Mia since I would hide from my parents in Alabama while reading Peyton Place and then slipping to watch it on TV…in black and white. These two ladies did not disappoint… great set, lighting, music and costumes… go see this before it closes!"

Modern Day Odd Couple But With Two Very Interesting Women
"Such a wonderful, intelligent script perfectly interpreted by two veteran actresses. I loved both characters, but Mia Farrow’s character steals the show. I laughed, I cried; my head and heart were touched."

Hilarious!
"I had no idea what to expect with this play. I knew if it had Patti Lupone performing then I knew it would be a winner. Mia Farrow was outstanding. She was hysterical and the combination of these two (2) women in one show makes it a once in a lifetime event. DO NOT HESITATE IN SECURING THESE TICKETS!!! You’ll regret missing out on a phenomenal performance."

Both poignant and hilariously funny
"Who would have ever paired these two ( and in real life dear friends!) ?? The juxtaposition on stage really works with Lupone bolstering Farrow in a way that aligns to the story . The kooky story is just a device for watching these 2 Titans work ."

Two older ladies showing their stuff
"The set was perfect, the twists in plot were sometimes predictable, but those two equivocating, attacking, and accommodation old pro actors was a very special experience for me, sitting a mere 25 feet from them"

Still Rockstars!
"Great to see two actresses ageing with class and obviously having a good time together. Personally I enjoyed the humour, irony and whimsy! Why not be liberated and be bad? !"

Legendary Roomies
"Mia Farrow was riveting as ever. Her ingenue remained in character for the whole performance and she stole the show in many ways. Patti LuPone was credible and slightly overdone in her delivery of the role but the story was compelling and the mysterious path of her character was well developed throughout the play. A memorable and enjoyable day at the theater! "

This is theater at its best!
"THE ROOMMATE is a must see. The script is delightfully humorous and well written. Marsha Mason, stepping in for Mia Farrow at the VERY LAST minute, was purely remarkable. She and Patti LuPone moved through the one act play like an easy breeze on a crisp spring day. Two incredible, polished (even with one carrying a script which magically became a part of her character) actors; a must see!!"

Mia farrow is incredible
"It’s worth going just to see Mia Farrow. She has such stage presence and impeccable comic timing. The play is thin and the plot a bit odd, but enjoyable nonetheless. "

Balance of Touching and Funny
"Two characters who could not be more different forge an odd friendship and even go into "business" together. Suspend your disbelief, sit back, relax and enjoy! Mia Farrow is sometimes a cartoon rather than a character but I got over that. Patti LuPone is her wonderful self."

Worth it to see two icons of the theatre.
"Performances were exceptional. Two legends of the stage together. Found the play a bit confusing or weak but it didn’t matter to me. Mia and Patti are icons. They inhabited the characters credibly. "

Great acting
"If there is a better actress than Mia Farrow I don’t know who it could be. Ms LuPone also shines and keeps a rather sagging script from sinking to the bottom. Impeccable pros both. Sometimes everything works the way it should. Keep it running. "
