Haunted by her memories and dreams, movie star Norma Desmond yearns to return to the big screen. A struggling screenwriter who can’t sell his scripts to the Hollywood studios may be her only hope, until their dangerous and captivating relationship leads to disaster. Drenched in champagne and cynicism, Sunset Boulevard focuses the lens on the ambitions and frustrations of its characters and puts their intoxicating need for fame and adoration in stark close-up.
"Having seen this show many years ago, I decided to see it this time solely because of Nicole Scherzinger. While it took me a minute to adjust to the "updated" version of this storyline/show (to include the walk "outside" the studio), I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Nicole was simply amazing. Recommend...."

Very Interesting Show
"The modern minimalist staging is something that is on the fence for me, but they show was very good. The use of multi-media (visual enhancement) and doing things ourside of the threatre was very interesting and entertaining. The story of lost glory and what that means is an age-old tale. This take was very interesting. The singing was very good, some diction improvement would be appricated, but overall was very please. The adult themes of love, lust and betrayal might not be for youth."

Powerful
"I loved the singing. Nicole S. Was amazing. She has such a powerful strong voice it will give you chills! The leading man was excellent also. It's the story itself that had a few drawn out spots that kept you waiting. "

Not my favorite
"Don’t get me wrong there was more that I liked than I didn’t like. To start I think the cast is immensely talented. I thought it was an interesting but good choice to have the portable camera work, projection screen as the only set pieces and props (especially in the beginning of act 2). Overall I just felt underwhelmed especially with the amount of hype this show is getting. "

not what was expected
"No customs, Hardly any set changes. Beautiful voices and superb dancing, but very dark. Felt it was not worth the $250 a ticket for mezzanine. Felt like I had not seen a Broadway show."

Not your typical broadway show
"My husband wanted to see it because of nicole what's her name...I would've preferred the beautiful costumes and sets of the original Glen Close version...this one felt like a concert not a broadway show...it's as though the actors were too lazy to change clothes or sets...what's up with the movie screen and all the smoke? That's why it wasn't a broadway show to me but more like a trashy concert! No elegance!"

Good but not memorable
"I enjoyed the musical but - the star was too young for the character she played, some of it was a little gimmicky and irrelevant, some of the songs were hard to understand (no enunciation)."

A show not for everyone
"This show's theme is dark. It follows the relationship between a younger writer and older, washed up, movie star and the conflicts that arise between them. The cast is wonderful although there were times when voices dropped and I had trouble hearing or understanding dialogue. This seemed to happen more than I would have liked. Part of why I gave 3 stars. Nicole is stunning and Tom Francis puts out an amazing amount of energy. He is onstage for almost the entire show and his performance is an acting workshop. I just wish I could have caught more of his dialogue. The staging was very cool. Technology was front and center to very good effect. There is no set, just a blank stage, so live projections of the cast during critical moments on a big screen heightened the effect of the action. The big plus for this show is wonderful acting, incredible range of voices, marvelous supporting cast and staging. The minus is dark theme ( I mean, the story is the story) and lost words. 3 stars feels about right."

Amazing acting and vocals/lacking Broadway staging
"The music and vocals saved the show for me. I’ve only seen the movie, Sunset Boulevard and this was a very clever rendition. However, the story is based on what was the glamor of Hollywood. This version has no glamor and no sets. It felt as if they were trying too hard to appeal to a younger audience with the use of video projections and the black and white costumes and imagery. Unfortunately, without a decent wardrobe, make up, a clear relationship to the past, and Nicole looking the same age as everyone else, it was difficult to get the full impact of the original story. Still, the actors were exceptional with incredible vocals. If this was a concert I would have been much happier. "

It was decent
"I was bored with the first act and thankfully the second act was great. While the acting and singing were wonderful the story was boring in the beginning. Once the second act started it was no longer dismal and tiring. Nicole was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, didn’t know she was that talented."

Beautiful music very talented actors but was I happy with the production
"I saw Sunset Boulevard years ago with Glenn Close and I think the setting the staging makes a big difference. I did not like the avant-garde style production. The music was absolutely wonderful and the voices were incredible, but I think the lack of staging was not appealing."
