"Lots of talent among the dancers, musicians, and actors. James Monroe Iglehart is phenomenal! Costumes evoke the early 20th Century and the Harlem Renaissance. If you like the Louis Armstrong songbook and jazz, don't miss it!"

"The actor who played Armstrong was absolutely amazing. My only wish is that they should include songs that he sang in French and Italian.

"I traveled in from Baltimore to see this play and it exceeded my expectations. The lead sounded just like louis armstrong! The dancing and costumes were so perfect. The female singers where strong especially the 3rd and 4th wives. Ugh! Gotta bring my mom to see this. "

"Loved the set, the costumes, the choreography, the music, and the story behind the musician.
The play provided you with insight you may not have known about the man referred to as Satchmo. It was a look back in time when Black entertainers were type casted and relegated to assume stereotypical roles despite their many talents that far exceeded what they were given. "

"The star performer was amazing in the role- one would have thought it was really Satchmo. The gravelly voice was perfect. The sets and lighting were innovative and the four women playing his wives had beautiful voices. My husband has been an Armstrong supporter forever and he enjoyed the show immensely "

"I truly enjoyed the show and was thinking it was going to be the best of the 4 shows I attended this past weekend. The musical was smooth and went from segment to segment --the music was great and so was the acting--however it was the ending that seemed out of place--it seems to have just been added on and did not merge with the rest of the musical "

"Acting and music was superb. The only downside is the show is close to 3 hours (including intermission). The story could have been condensed and more focused on the music (and not necessarily the four wives). "

Occasionally, the story dragged a little, especially in the second act. Nonetheless, it was a thoroughly entertaining experience.

"This is a great vocal and dance heavy performance. If you're coming to hear a jazz trumpet concert...its not that. The focus is more on Armstrong's vocals and the development/chronology of his long career. Vocals are strong and dancers wonderful. My only comment to the contrary would be the length of the show at 3 hrs. with one 15 min intermission. But honestly its a long career and any cutting of his top hits would lead the viewer to scratch their head wondering why XYZ was left out. How the lead can imitate Louis' gravelly voice each night is a testament to his skill."

"Presented the background of difficult times and disadvantage in a humourous way but didnt diminish them. In latter stages drew gentle attention to the prejudices that still exist."
