About Oh, Mary!

Oh, Mary! is a dark comedy about a miserable, suffocated Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. Unrequited yearning, alcoholism, and suppressed desires abound in this 80-minute one-act play that finally examines the forgotten life and dreams of Mrs. Lincoln, through the lens of an idiot (playwright Cole Escola).

Declared “one of the best comedies in years” by The New York Times, Oh, Mary! has been heralded as the funniest play on Broadway by the New York Post, Entertainment Weekly, Variety, Time Out New York, and The Guardian. “It’s a bona fide phenomenon,” raves The Wall Street Journal, and Variety calls it “unquestionably the funniest, gayest, campiest play Broadway has seen in years.”

Oh, Mary! is now extended through June 28, 2025. EmmyⓇ nominee Betty Gilpin (GLOW, American Primeval) stars as Mary Todd Lincoln through March 16. Tituss Burgess (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, 30 Rock) stars as Mary Todd Lincoln beginning March 18 for three weeks only!

Super funny show!
"Had a really good time watching this! Hilarious script with quick and witty jokes, some interesting twists and turns and exceptional acting. Only the ending felt a tiny bit rushed but other than that highly highly recommend!"

Funny AF
"This is probably the funniest show I’ve ever seen and definitely the silliest. Betty Gilpin is BRILLIANT and the rest of the cast is wonderful. Run to see it (unless you’re a prude)."

Hilarious performance
"The play is a small cast ensemble with actors playing multiple parts. Very funny performance of campy characters. Playwright was performing as Mary when I saw it and was so perfect that I cannot imagine another performer doing as well in that role."

Hilarious absurdity.
"I am 70 year old male originally from suburban New Jersey that has seen dozens of Broadway shows. OH Mary had Superb acting by the original cast. An absurd premise combined with perfectly timed fast-moving, clever, comic dialogue made for a delightful evening. Brilliant writing with an unexpected climax. If you enjoy over the top comedy combined with farcical sexuality, you will love this show. "

Irreverent
"Hysterical, but definitely not for children. The actors were delightful and funny. Great physical comedy. Had difficult seeing the far left scenes (sofa) due to my seating, but otherwise, great show."

Not for the faint of heart or homophobes
"I really liked the story line. Took a while to warm up to it. Once I did I absolutely enjoyed it. High energy and great acting by all in the cast. Explosive ending. The Himalayan stair climb to the balcony will test you legs."
